Tea w/ Brother Brown - Episode #1:
Thor in the Morn - aka Jim T
Jim-T is wART DJ who is ON AIR Tuesdays from 8AM to 11AM and is rebroadcast for an hour Fridays at 11PM. "Thor in the Morn" is on 8-10. During the show Jim-T plays a variety of music interspersed with a reading of the local headlines (from the News Record & Sentinel), trivia, history, and the always anticipated bird report. Additionally Jim-T often interviews local 'movers & shakers' and persons of interest including the Superintendent of Madison County Schools, County Commissioners, State Officials, Authors, Non-profits, and municipal officials. For Jim-T's subject show it is always fun to listen in and sonically guess what subject Jim-T cooked up for the day.
Jim-T & Brother Brown discussed the The North Carolina Mountain Ridge Protection Act of 1983, specifically the Madison County Mountain Ridge Protection Ordinance, aka the “50 foot building set-back” ordinance that is being debated.
Get informed first! Then get involved!!
Don’t fall into the trap of emotional triggering rhetoric and the us vs. them ways. There are valid and rational points on both sides of this debate.
Madison County is better off when we have the courage to listen first, ask questions, then sit in the uncomfortable and get to know where others are coming from, then follow through with reasonable debate.
To learn more check out the local newspaper, the News Record & Sentinel and attend the Madison County Commissioners Meetings, the 2nd Tuesday of every month (which are taped and also available to view online).

Brother Brown, what an enjoyable 15-20 minutes I had on Supper Sounds w/ Brother Brown on Thursday. Glad we talked about the Ridgeline Protection issue going on in our county and really appreciate your website here with links to County Commissioners and other government officials, as well as all the tunes you played - that is a lot of work, man. Way to go. I hope other DJ's take advantage of Tea Time with Brother Brown due to the nice ambience you turned the caboose into from the drab, gray interior. Very sweet of you. Give me call when I can come on, and I'll stay an hour or two. Thanks - Jim T.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Jim-T! I'll have you back soon!!
